Regional workforce development programme

Alongside increased investment and improved services, has to come the expansion and increased competence of the workforce who deliver drug treatment services. This impacts significantly upon all areas of workforce development including recruitment, retention, career pathway development, training and appraisals.

The Regional Workforce Development Programme exists to enable the implementation of the joint NTA/DSD workforce plan, assist drug action teams in meeting NTA qualification targets and to help address regional and local workforce development issues in the areas outlined above.

The programme is co-ordinated by Neil Baxter (Tel: 0121 352 5075) and overseen by a programme management board made up of representatives from:

  • Home Office
  • NTA
  • DATs
  • Skills for Health
  • Skills for Justice
