Introduction
The National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS) relates to the process of collecting, collating and analysing information from and for those involved in the drug and alcohol treatment sector. The NDTMS is a development of the Regional Drug Misuse Databases (RDMD), which have been in place since the late 1980’s.
London NDTMS is one of the 8 English regions of NDTMS. The London region supports 33 Drug and Alcohol Action Teams (DAATs) and approximately 400 structured (tier 3 and 4) drug and alcohol treatment agencies are registered to report to the NTA on clients in treatment via the National Drug Treatment Monitoring System.
Any London agency wishing to submit NDTMS data, but lacking a third party clinical management system to record and extract NDTMS data are offered the NTA’s Data Entry Tool (DET) which is a web based system.
Local treatment need differs in each area and DAATs are required to conduct a needs assessment exercise on an annual basis with an expected outcome that local drug users have their individual needs met or met more effectively. The needs assessment informs the production of an annual treatment plan per DAAT area which sets out activity from the previous year, intentions for the coming year and plans for future expenditure. The regional NTA team use these plans to performance manage each DAAT in London.
Although London NDTMS is the smallest of the eight regions geographically, it supports the largest amount of agencies (approximately 400) and receives the largest volume of data.
London NDTMS is committed to supporting all 33 London DAATs and all their respective drug and alcohol agencies with data quality issues, training, local data analysis and NDTMS core data set changes.
The London NDTMS team aims to respond to all queries as quickly as possible and will acknowledge receipt of all emails within 7 working days.
