More people who inject illegal drugs are being offered and are accepting confidential tests for Hepatitis C through contact with drug treatment services in England, figures from the National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse (NTA) show. In 2008/09 around 27,000 (70 per cent) injecting drug users (IDUs) newly presenting to treatment in the year were offered Hep C tests, and over 18,000 (47 per cent) accepted. This is an increase from the one in five being tested just three years ago.
