With a population of over seven million people, London has a large and very diverse population.
Nearly three out of every ten Londoners come from an ethnic minority community. Being a large city, its size adds complexity to the organisation, development and provision of drug treatment services.
Despite its success and affluence, London has high levels of social deprivation and poverty. London is very much a divided city with problems of housing and homelessness, health, education, unemployment, discrimination, crime and poverty. Cutting across all these is the issue of drug use, both problematic and recreational.
