The NTA has nine regional teams which provide leadership at a regional level, engaging with strategic partners to drive ambition and performance. Underpinning these ambitions, the regional teams operate delivery assurance arrangements with local drug partnerships to ensure the delivery of timely, effective treatment in each area, based on a sound understanding of need. The regional teams are also responsible for holding partnerships to account for value for money investment of drugs budgets and for implementing the NTA’s work programme at a regional level.
In particular, the teams review and provide guidance on needs assessment, commissioning and treatment planning processes for young people’s services, adult services and prison treatment provision. They monitor local and regional performance in key areas, including a range of indicators that support effective treatment systems, including outcomes, numbers in treatment, retention in treatment, waiting times, workforce development, user and carer involvement, and treatment for offenders. The teams work closely with NHS and third sector providers, criminal justice agencies, government offices, service users, families and carers, and key inspectorates in their region to oversee the development of local treatment systems.
Annual treatment plans for each partnership area are available from the individual regional areas.
