This manual contains tools and techniques to improve the assessment of substance addicted people and carry out a plan for recovery.

The manual details the common parts of effective treatment. It uses the concept of node-link mapping to support the delivery of these techniques and is organised into sessions.

It covers:

  • setting, achieving and rewarding goals
  • building social support for change
  • providing information to reduce harm
  • skills development
  • exiting treatment and aftercare
