In recent years strong progress has been in made in expanding the workforce to deliver the increases in capacity and access to treatment that thousands of clients now benefit from.

However, it is important that commissioners and services continue to work towards a workforce which is fully competent and able to demonstrate its competence.

The NTA is leading efforts to focus local drug services in England on maximising help for drug users to achieve and sustain recovery from addiction.

We have helped produce a range of clinical guidance for doctors, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, consultant psychiatrists and other staff who provide treatment to drug misusers, and lead a range of practical initiatives within the treatment field to drive performance and achieve positive outcomes for drug misusers, so that more people can recover from dependency.
